Andrew worked for several well-known consulting firms in Sydney for over 10 years before joining Partridge in early 2005, becoming a Director in 2010.
Whilst his work and experience takes in all aspects of Partridge’s activities, his main area of expertise is in bespoke, architecturally-designed houses and concrete structures. He has a particular passion and skill for concrete design, and enjoys giving clients clever and efficient solutions, as well as collaborating closely with architects to ensure win-win outcomes. His projects and personal design work have been recognised by both the Concrete Institute of Australia and the Association of Consulting Structural Engineers, winning several “Excellence in Engineering” awards from both entities.
A ’hands-on‘ Director, he is personally responsible for the design and management of Partridge’s small and large scale residential projects, as well as many of our institutional projects (i.e. private school buildings, aged care facilities, child care centres, etc); new or refurbished commercial and retail spaces; and pretty much anything that needs a keen engineer’s eye. Andrew is also a guest lecturer in both the engineering & architectural faculties at Sydney University; a regular public speaker and/or MC at engineering events, and a frequent writer and contributor to the Partridge blog. In 2018 he was made a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers Australia.
Outside of engineering, Andrew is actively involved in the world of single malt Scotch whisky, where he hosts whisky appreciation and education evenings and also writes for several food and wine publications – both locally and internationally. He is a keen squash player, and also enjoys both cricket and Aussie Rules, but these days only on television. In between all this, he somehow manages to find time to spend with his wife and kids!
