Partridge is thrilled and honoured to share the news that our work just received the highest national engineering accolade in Australia for concrete design, innovation, and achievement!
As part of the biennial national Concrete Conference hosted by the Concrete Institute of Australia, Partridge’s Manly House project was awarded the 2017 Medallion for “Excellence in Concrete” in the Residential Buildings category at the Conference’s gala dinner and awards evening. (Incredibly, this makes it unprecedented back-to-back consecutive wins for Partridge, as our Glebe House project was bestowed the same award at the previous 2015 Conference & Awards).
The project faced some stiff competition, noting that the Residential Buildings category encompasses buildings up to 11 storeys high. In an industry that is sometimes guilty of incorrectly assuming or asserting that “bigger is more difficult or more impressive”, it’s gratifying that the judges saw fit to bestow the National Award to a house, in recognition of the engineering design, challenges, and innovation that Partridge achieved with this wonderful residence.
This is now the fourth award for the Manly House, it having already previously received two engineering awards, as well as a Master Builders’ Association award for the builder. Thanks and credit are also due to our brilliant partners and collaborators on the project, PopovBass (architect) and Horizon Habitats (builder).
We’d also like to thank and acknowledge the Concrete Institute of Australia for another incredible National Conference, and for including residential buildings in their awards categories.
