Shellharbour Workers' Club
Sculptor Richard Goodwin, Architect Caroline Pidcock and Partridge Partners collaborated to deliver this sustainable extension to the Shellharbour Workers’ Club.
The rhythm of fine steel columns and warped tubular trusses allows filtered sunlight through the patterned roof of photovoltaic cells.
Light and shade fall across the new decks drawing the internal view outwards to the grassed grounds and ocean beyond.
ESD issues such as rainwater collection, 50% fresh air circulation and a worm farm illustrate how sustainability, art and functionality can merge to create, in an apparently natural and simple way, a most successful outcome.
