Domestic Housing
7 Lord Howe StreetArchitect: Tobias Partners This 1950's radical home was designed by Henry Pollack, the founder of Mirvac. There were many features that the client and architect wished to keep, whilst updating the home for an active growing family. It has stunning views over Sydney Harbour and the upper living area floor was opened up to maximise these views. The original shallow butterfly roof was kept intact whist most of its support columns were removed. Partridge Partners inserted a new structural steel support system using large cantilevers, few columns and tie-down backspans. 7 Pacific Avenue, Tamarama
This new 3-storey house combines a robust concrete frame which forms its skeleton and allows a very large cantilevered balcony to overlook Tamarama Beach, and light steel and timber framing to the north allowing dappled sunlight to flow throughout the interior. Architect: Gary Hennessy Architects. | 26 Thyra Road, Palm Beach
This house started life as a simple timber beach cottage, subsequently an extra storey was added and the building received the full "Balinese treatment". Nick Tobias pulled this mish-mash together and opened it up to the extensive water views by removing most of the internal walls. To resist wind forces, we devised two vertical cantilevered structural trusses, anchored into the founding rock and hidden within bedroom walls and the central fireplace. Solar Tower, various locations
This steel tower consists of several levels for windmill, solar cells (on rotating arms) fire-tanks, potable water and hot water storage. Two towers have now been constructed and the various agreements signed for future marketing and mass production. Architect: Dawson Brown Architects | 13 Courallie Road, Northbridge

Architect : Utz-Sanby Architects | Raglan St, Mosman
This original 1900s house used to front onto Balmoral beach before any other surrounding development. The beach feel has been returned by a new first floor addition in the style of the upturned timber dingy. Close working with Gary Hennessy allowed us to contribute to his vision via our strutural design. Architect: Gary Hennessy |

4 Dick Street, RandwickArchitect: Kevin Snell Architects. | 5 Coorabin Road, NorthbridgeThis waterfront home was Harry Seidler's second house in Australia. Built just after WWII it was restricted in size and materials, but Harry Seidler was re-commissioned in 1999 to add an extra floor, new balconies and change the timber floors to concrete. This resulted in a classic Harry Seidler creation - elegant, robust and deceptively complex in its simplicity. We worked closely with the owner/builder and Harry Seidler to not only carry out the structural design but also to resolve many details and to assist in construction.
